Ravichandran Ashwin Praises Gripping Police Drama ‘Sirai,’ Didn’t Touch His Phone While Watching!

Well-known cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has praised director Suresh Rajakumari’s newly released police drama “Sirai,” stating that the film was so gripping that he didn’t check his phone even once during the entire viewing.

Emerging from the screening, Ashwin shared his thoughts, saying, “Really liked the film a lot. It was a very gripping film. In today’s day and age, watching a film without touching one’s phone is a big thing. I did not touch my phone while watching this film completely. Fabulous acting actually—be it Vikram (Prabhu) and Akshay (Kumar) and all the cast members. The way they have built each character, it didn’t look like a hero’s film at all. It looked like everybody’s movie. It was very nice. Refreshing for Tamil cinema!”

For those who may not know, this gripping police drama has received praise from film critics and industry experts, who were treated to special screenings ahead of its December 25 release. The film features actors Vikram Prabhu and L K Akshay Kumar in lead roles.

Producer S S Lalit Kumar, confident about the film’s success before its release, presented a car to director Suresh Rajakumari to recognize his commendable work. This gesture was made during a pre-release event attended by several celebrities and media personnel, where ace director Vetrimaaran, who mentored Rajakumari, handed the car keys to the director’s mother.

The film’s narrative, inspired by real-life incidents, is penned by director Tamizh, known for the critically acclaimed “Taanakaran.” It is believed that this story was influenced by his personal experiences.

Suresh Rajakumari, who co-directed with Vetrimaaran, has both written and directed this film.

Vikram Prabhu takes the lead role alongside actress Anantha, while L K Akshay Kumar, the son of producer S S Lalit Kumar, makes his acting debut. Actress Anishma plays opposite Akshay Kumar in the movie.

Musical composition for the film is by well-known music director Justin Prabhakaran, with cinematography by Madesh Manickam and editing by the highly regarded Philomin Raj. Stunts are choreographed by Prabhu. The film is produced by Arun K and Manikandan as executive producers.

Filming locations included various sites such as Chennai, Sivagangai, and Vellore.
