Actor and content creator Gaurav Gera recently reminisced about his unexpected journey with superstar Ranveer Singh, which began with a viral social media video in 2015 and has now culminated in the film “Dhurandhar” set to release in 2025.
Gaurav took to Instagram to reflect on their first interaction, tracing it back to 2015 when his beloved character Chutki made a memorable entrance into a shopkeeper’s store, innocently requesting inner garments. This video became an instant hit, making Chutki a household name and generating endless laughter online.
In his post, Gaurav shared the popular “Dubsmash” video, stating: “Hum pehle bhi mile hai… Hamza 1. 2015 mein — Chutki aayi thi Shopkeeper ki dukaan par. Bholi si awaaz mein boli: “Shopkeeper inner garment Dena.” Video gaya viral. #chutkichaddi #chutkishopkeeper.”
A few months later, Gaurav revisited that scene with a fresh twist. This time, Chutki interacted with Ranveer Singh, who portrayed the shopkeeper. While the dialogue and energy remained unchanged, the moment transformed into another viral reel.
“Phir thoda twist aaya — Kuch mahine baad 2015 Mai … Wahi scene, wahi dialogues.. bas is baar Chutki ko Shopkeeper ki jagah mile RS. Chaddi Nahi mili, Reel bani, woh bhi udi. #ChutkiRanveerSingh,” he noted.
Fast forward to 2025, Gaurav and Ranveer reunited for “Dhurandhar,” where director Aditya Dhar sent the vibrant star to Aalam Juice Centre for a particular scene.
Gaurav wrote: “Cut to 2025. Das saal baad, Dhar Saab @adityadharfilms ne Aalam Juice Centre pe @ranveersingh ko bheja .. aur RS ne poocha “Yahan Koi, kaam milega?” #Dhurandhar.”
He also shared an amusing anecdote about the filming process: “Ps – I had grown a full beard, and we all were sitting for the mind-blowing narration, which was lengthy (now we all know). During the washroom break, I was sitting when RS came from behind my chair and said, ‘Chutki washroom jayegi?’ I was like, ‘Leh … meri itni dadhi waste ho gayi…’ That is him, Sadda Hamza, the warm, friendly superstar.”
