The late veteran superstar Dilip Kumar, in a memorable interview with Lehren TV, praised Bollywood icons Govinda, Madhuri Dixit, and Sridevi for their outstanding acting and exceptional dancing skills.
Dilip Kumar’s Thoughts on Dancing
When asked about his own dancing abilities, Dilip Kumar humbly admitted, “No, no. I was never good at dancing. I tried, but it didn’t work out. Firstly, I couldn’t dance, so I never really liked it. But when others dance, especially the girls, they look absolutely lovely while dancing.”
Admiration for Fellow Stars
Kumar expressed admiration for Govinda, stating, “And boys like Govinda and some of his colleagues, when they dance, I am truly surprised by their agility.” He went on to highlight the talent among younger dancers, especially the girls, saying, “Most young people today dance so beautifully. I particularly marvel at the girls.”
When asked about his favorite dancer from Bollywood, Kumar appreciated the late actress Sridevi, mentioning, “Sridevi. She is my wife’s favorite too. I think she is a very fine artist.” His praise extended to Madhuri Dixit as well, as he remarked, “The same goes for Madhuri Dixit now. She is not only a good dancer, but both of them are extremely fine performers.”
Impact on Bollywood Dance
Govinda, Madhuri Dixit, and Sridevi have redefined dance in Bollywood with their unique styles and expressions.
For context, Govinda dominated the 1990s with hit films such as Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, and Saajan Chale Sasural, coupled with iconic dance numbers like Husn Hai Suhana, Sona Kitna Sona Hai, and Main Toh Raste Se Ja Raha Tha, establishing him as a beloved dancer.
Sridevi, on the other hand, ruled the late 80s with her stellar performances in films like Chandni, Mr. India, and Sadma. She captivated audiences with her graceful yet expressive dance tracks, including Hawa Hawaai, Mere Haathon Mein Nau Nau Choodiyan, and Nainon Mein Sapna.
Madhuri Dixit enchanted fans with her grace and ‘adaa’. Known as the ‘dhak dhak’ girl, her performances in movies like Tezaab, Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!, and Devdas, along with dance hits such as Ek Do Teen, Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, and Dola Re Dola, showcased her classical training and effortless grace, solidifying her status as a powerhouse actress.
