Actress Shilpa Shetty paid a heartfelt tribute to her late father, Surendra Shetty, who would have celebrated his 85th birthday. She shared cherished memories on her official Instagram handle to commemorate the special occasion.
“Cheers to 85, Dad! I hope you are enjoying your single malt up there…(sic),” Shilpa wrote in the post.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher responded with a warm “Happy birthday,” accompanied by flowers and red heart emojis.
The album shared by Shilpa featured touching moments, including her embracing her father, as well as a nostalgic childhood photograph. There was also a lovely picture of her father with her son, Viaan. The final image showcased Shilpa and her sister Shamita alongside their father.
On October 11, Shilpa marked her father’s 9th death anniversary with another emotional message on social media. She posted a sweet childhood photo where her father was seen playfully tickling her, creating a joyful moment on her face.
“Miss your smile .. Miss YOU Daddy (Red heart emoji) 9 years today (folded hands emoji) (sic),” she captioned the touching remembrance.
For context, Shilpa’s father passed away on October 11, 2016, at their home in Versova due to a cardiac arrest. After being rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, he was pronounced dead.
In a separate matter, Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing registered a case involving a 60 crore fraud against Shilpa and her husband Raj Kundra, following a complaint from Mumbai-based businessman Deepak Kothari.
Shilpa firmly denied the allegations, describing them as “baseless and motivated.” In her Instagram Stories, she stated, “We categorically deny the baseless and motivated allegations being circulated. The issues sought to be raised are being given a criminal colour without any lawful basis. A Quashing Petition has already been filed before the High Court and is pending adjudication. Having fully cooperated with the investigation, we are sanguine that justice will prevail and have complete faith in the law enforcement authorities and the judicial system of our country. We respectfully urge the media to exercise restraint as the matter is subjudice.”
