If industry sources are to be believed, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will be joining the sets of Superstar Rajinikanth’s eagerly awaited film ‘Jailer 2’ in December.
Although exact dates are not officially confirmed, insiders suggest that Mohanlal is set to begin shooting for a couple of days starting December 2. This much-anticipated film is directed by the ace filmmaker Nelson. Following his initial stint, Mohanlal will shoot for other Malayalam films before returning to ‘Jailer 2’ from December 21 to December 24.
The excitement surrounding ‘Jailer 2’ continues to build, with reports indicating that Vijay Sethupathi has already joined the production in Goa. Currently, his scenes are being filmed, but there has been no official confirmation yet regarding his role in the cast.
In May, Rajinikanth mentioned that the filming of ‘Jailer 2’ is expected to continue until December. Speaking to reporters at the Chennai airport, he stated, “Shooting of Jailer 2 is progressing well. It will be December by the time the film ends.”
The film has generated considerable interest, largely due to the remarkable success of the first installment, which grossed around Rs 650 crores. The second part’s filming commenced in Chennai on March 10, as announced by Sun Pictures, the production house behind this action entertainer.
Anticipation reached new heights after Sun Pictures released an engaging teaser that balanced both humor and thrill. Shortly after, actress Ramya Krishnan shared her excitement on her first day of shooting for the sequel in Attapaadi, Kerala, stating, “26 years of Padayappa and the first day shoot of Jailer 2.”
Ramya plays the character of Vijaya Pandian, the wife of Rajinikanth’s character Muthuvel Pandian, in the film. Additionally, actress Mirnaa will also have a significant role as Swetha Pandian, Rajinikanth’s daughter-in-law.
Anirudh, whose music significantly contributed to the success of the first part, is returning to score the music for this sequel as well.
