About the Film “Ishq”
Directed by Indra Kumar, “Ishq” starred Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Juhi Chawla, and Kajol in lead roles, while Dalip Tahil, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Johnny Lever, and Mohan Joshi played supporting characters. Released on November 28, 1997, the film became a blockbuster, grossing over Rs 500 million worldwide and ranking as the third highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. Ajay and Kajol’s on-screen chemistry was one of the film’s most cherished aspects.
The Couple’s Journey Together
Kajol and Ajay first met on the sets of “Hulchul” in 1995, a project Kajol joined after the untimely death of lead actress Divya Bharti. The couple dated for nearly four years, keeping their romance private. They tied the knot on February 24, 1999, in an intimate ceremony at their Mumbai residence, followed by a two-month honeymoon across Europe.
They welcomed their daughter, Nysa, on April 20, 2003, and seven years later, on September 13, 2010, their son Yug was born.
In a candid conversation on “No Filter Neha” in 2018, Kajol revealed the initial hesitations surrounding their marriage. She shared how she convinced her father, late filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee, to support her decision. “Nobody wanted us to get married besides his family and my family. My family was also iffy. My dad didn’t talk to me for a week when I told him I wanted to get married. He was just like, ‘Why do you want to get married, you’re so young and your career is doing so well?’ I was like, ‘But I want to get married!’”
Ajay’s tribute and their shared memories truly celebrate a beautiful journey of love and togetherness.
