The streaming series and prequel to the cult classic ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘House of the Dragon’, is set to return with its fourth season.
The new season is expected to premiere on OTT platforms sometime in 2028. The third season of this prequel is slated for a summer release in 2026, as reported by ‘Variety’.
This renewal announcement came during an HBO press presentation, where CEO Casey Bloys also confirmed that the other prequel series, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’, has been renewed for a second season prior to its first season debut on January 18.
According to ‘Variety’, the second season is anticipated for 2027. This means that ‘Game of Thrones’ enthusiasts will enjoy fresh content from Westeros every year until 2028.

‘House of the Dragon’ is based on George R. R. Martin’s book, ‘Fire & Blood’, and chronicles the Targaryen family’s story 200 years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’, just a few generations before Daenerys’ birth.
