Space travel might be gaining traction as the next big thing in mainstream tourism, but pop icon Taylor Swift isn’t keen on the idea of venturing into space.
The ‘Fate of Ophelia’ singer made it clear that there is “no reason” for her to follow in the footsteps of celebrities like Katy Perry, William Shatner, and Gayle King when it comes to exploring beyond Earth’s atmosphere. In fact, she finds the whole concept quite “scary.”
During her appearance on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, host Scott Mills posed the question of whether she would ever consider space travel. Taylor’s response was emphatic: “Never, why would I do that? There’s no reason to do that. I don’t wanna do that ever. I never, oh my god, no. It’s cold, it’s scary. I don’t know if I can come back down. You know what? Thank you for asking because I completely freaked out by the question. I thought you were gonna make me go. Like that was my reaction to it; I was like I’m not going! I was like why are you making me go?! You’re like there’s no spaceship here.”
According to reports, the 35-year-old singer is deterred by the thought that any potential spaceflight she undertook would be met with skepticism. She expressed, “If I go, no one will believe I went. It doesn’t matter if you go because everyone thinks you didn’t go. Or they have a weird take on it. I have no fascination.”
In addition, Taylor addressed concerns from fans that marriage to Travis Kelce might result in her stepping back from making music. Responding to the notion, Scott noted that some fans were speculating, saying, “Well, she’s going to get married and then she’s going to have children and then she’s going to be the last album.”
With a laugh, the ‘Blank Space’ singer replied, “It’s a shockingly offensive thing to say. It’s not why people get married. So that they can quit their job. It’s also like music for me is…”
Currently, it seems Taylor and Travis have no immediate plans for marriage, as she is focused on her latest album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl.’
