The makers of Rishab Shetty’s highly anticipated Kannada pan-India film ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ have decided to cancel the film’s pre-release event that was scheduled to take place in Chennai on Tuesday.

Cancellation Due to Tragedy

This decision follows the tragic stampede in Karur that resulted in the loss of 41 lives. Hombale Films, the production house behind the film, announced the cancellation via their X timeline. They stated, “Due to the recent unfortunate incident, we are cancelling the #KantaraChapter1 promotional event in Chennai tomorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected. Thank you for your understanding, we look forward to meeting our audience in Tamil Nadu at a more appropriate time. #KantaraChapter1onOct2.”

Alongside this message, they shared a poster conveying, “In view of the recent unfortunate incident, we have decided to cancel our Kantara Chapter 1 promotional event scheduled in Chennai tomorrow. We believe this is a time for reflection and solidarity with those affected. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the families impacted. We are grateful for your understanding and support, and we look forward to meeting our audience in Tamil Nadu at a more appropriate time.”

Rising Anticipation for the Film

‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has generated significant buzz, and the recently released trailer has only heightened fan excitement. The trailer showcases the events leading up to the original ‘Kantara’ film released in 2022. Although details about the plot remain scarce, a sense of intrigue pervades.

Notably, the film introduces a new character, played by Gulshan Devaiah, who takes on the role of a tyrannical king imposing heavy taxes on his citizens in the form of farm produce. His character’s wrath is unleashed when he discovers that the princess is romantically involved with the lead character portrayed by Rishab Shetty. The trailer further hints at the intervention of Panjurli, the demigod, to aid the villagers.

Creative Team Behind the Scenes

The creative team of ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ includes music director B. Ajaneesh Loknath, cinematographer Arvind Kashyap, and production designer Vinesh Banglan, all of whom have contributed to shaping the film’s powerful visual and emotional narrative.

A striking feature of the film is an elaborate war sequence, crafted with the expertise of both national and international specialists, involving over 500 skilled fighters and featuring 3,000 people. This remarkable sequence was filmed over 45–50 days on rugged terrain, spanning an entire town of 25 acres, marking it as one of the largest in Indian cinema history.

Multi-Language Release

Produced by Hombale Films, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ is set to release in cinemas on October 2, in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, and English, ensuring its cultural essence reaches audiences across various languages and regions.
