The queen of pop, Madonna, is celebrating her son David Banda’s birthday. The singer-songwriter recently took to Instagram to share a collection of throwback pictures capturing moments from David’s childhood to his teenage years.
The photos showcase David’s growth at various stages of life, featuring him reading, playing guitar, and posing with a horse. In her heartfelt caption, Madonna wrote, “Happy Birthday @senzacacona. There is nothing that you cannot do. I knew you were meant for greatness the moment I met you. Running around with no diapers, drinking Coca-Cola out of a baby bottle. Gangster.”
David, born in 2005 in Malawi, is the adopted son of Madonna and her former husband, filmmaker Guy Ritchie. Madonna met David at an orphanage in Malawi during a humanitarian visit in 2006. After a legal process that attracted international media attention and sparked debates on celebrity adoptions, David was formally adopted in 2008. From a young age, he exhibited a strong passion for music, fashion, and sports.
Known particularly for his love of football, David trained at the Benfica Youth Academy in Portugal, where Madonna relocated to support his budding career. In recent years, he has also captured attention with his bold fashion choices, often reflecting Madonna’s own fearless sense of style. The mother-son duo frequently appears at public events in coordinated or striking outfits, symbolizing their strong bond.
Madonna has consistently praised David’s charisma and talent, noting his instinctive flair for performance. While he continues to carve out his own identity, David embodies Madonna’s dedication to family and philanthropy, especially in Malawi, where she has championed health and education initiatives. Their relationship stands as a testament to a blend of maternal love, artistic influence, and shared humanitarian values.
