Tannishtha Chatterjee’s “Full Plate” to Open Indian Film Festival of Sydney
Tannishtha Chatterjee’s upcoming directorial venture, Full Plate, will kick off the Indian Film Festival of Sydney. The actress and filmmaker expressed that the movie was born out of “struggle, grit and hope.”
Star-Studded Cast
Full Plate features Kirti Kulhari in the lead role, joined by Sharib Hashmi, Monica Dogra, and Indraneil Sengupta in significant roles. The film is set to have its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in 2025.
Compelling Storyline
The narrative revolves around a Muslim homemaker in Mumbai whose life takes a drastic turn after her husband’s accident, pushing her to enter the workforce, which leads to his insecurities and her personal growth.
Tannishtha’s Emotional Reflections
Reflecting on the film’s opening at the festival, Tannishtha stated, “In the middle of one of the hardest chapters of my life, it meant everything to know that stories still matter.” She expressed her gratitude and humility when Mitu Bhowmick Lange invited her to open the festival with Full Plate, describing the film as a representation of her life’s challenges.

A Friend’s Support
On September 15, Shabana Azmi, a close friend and National Award-winning actress, shared that Tannishtha completed Full Plate while undergoing cancer treatment. Shabana took to Instagram to post pictures with Tannishtha, Sandhya Mridul, Divya Dutta, and Urmila Matondkar.
Accompanying the images, she praised Tannishtha: “To Tiger Tan as she heads to Busan International Film Festival with her directorial venture which she completed during her cancer treatment. You rock of Gibraltar.”
Last month, Tannishtha revealed that she has been diagnosed with stage 4 oligo metastatic cancer, sharing her personal journey with her audience.
