Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds once swore at his wife Blake Lively before answering a call from actor-comedian Bill Murray.
The ‘Deadpool’ star, 48, who has been married to Blake, 38, since 2012, shared insights about his attempts to connect with Bill, 75, during a recent event in New Jersey while promoting the documentary ‘John Candy: I Like Me.’
His persistence to secure Bill’s involvement in the film about comedian John Candy was impressive. Ryan revealed that he left “40 messages” for Bill before finally managing to get the actor’s phone number through “a friend of a friend of a friend.”
Recalling the voicemail he sent, he expressed, “I’ll come to you. I’ll do whatever it takes,” as he urged Bill to share insights about John Candy’s life. His determination seemed to pay off when he was at a formal event with Blake.
“I’m there with my wife and we’re about to walk in and my phone buzzes. I look at it and it says Bill Murray, and I go, ‘Bill Murray’,” he shared. Ryan mentioned that Blake whispered, “We have to go in!” to which he impulsively replied, “F*** you,” before taking the call.
Bill eventually promised to get back to him regarding the project. Ryan admitted to leaving “another 40 messages” in a “desperate” attempt to finalize the film.
In a light-hearted moment, he created a video message while being interrupted by his children. “I said, ‘If you say no to a child like that, I don’t know what kind of monster you are’,” he joked.
The strategy worked, as Bill called back “two seconds later,” asking, “What do you need from me for JC (John Candy)?”
Ryan and Blake are also proud parents to four children: James, Inez, Betty, and Olin.
