This historical biopic highlights the vibrant life and cinematic prowess of one of India’s most visionary storytellers. It chronicles his incredible journey from the silent film era through the introduction of sound and colour, solidifying his status as one of the most influential figures in Indian cinema history.

“Portraying V. Shantaram-ji is one of the greatest honors of my life,” Siddhant expressed in a statement. He remarked that delving into V. Shantaram’s journey has humbled him even further.

    Societal Stigmas

“Social stigmas are everywhere,” Ayesha stated, emphasizing the biases present in contemporary society. “Some people think that women can’t do this. • Jenna Ortega Wants Audiences to Get ‘Sick’ of AI’s Dominance in TV and Movies

Jenna Ortega Wants Audiences to Get ‘Sick’ of AI’s Dominance in TV and Movies

Actress Jenna Ortega has voiced her apprehensions regarding the growing use of artificial intelligence in film and television. She expressed hope that audiences will eventually feel “sick” of AI-generated content and retreat to authentic human creations.

    Human Touch in Storytelling

At a press conference during the Marrakech Film Festival, the ‘Wednesday’ star noted, “There is really charm in the human condition… As humans, we have a tendency to always, when you look back at history, take things too far. It’s very easy to be terrified. I know I am in times like this of deep uncertainty. And it kind of feels like we’ve opened up a Pandora’s Box.”

Ortega emphasized the irreplaceable aspects of genuine art: “There are certain things that AI just isn’t able to replicate. Yes, there are beautiful, difficult mistakes, and a computer can’t do that. A computer has no soul, and it’s nothing that we would ever be able to resonate with or relate to.”

She further remarked, “I don’t want to assume for the audience, but I would hope it gets to a point where it becomes some sort of mental junk food, AI and looking at the screen, and then suddenly we all feel sick, and we don’t know why. Then that one independent filmmaker in their backyard comes out with something, and it releases this new excitement again.”

    Concerns from Fellow Filmmakers

In a related view, acclaimed director Bong Joon Ho shared that while he acknowledges the potential benefits of AI, he still wishes to “destroy” the technology due to the threats it poses to the creative industry. “My official answer is, AI is good because it’s the very beginning of the human race finally seriously thinking about what only humans can do. But my personal answer is, I’m going to organise a military squad, and their mission is to destroy AI,” he stated.

Director Celine Song also echoed these sentiments, supporting Guillermo del Toro’s recent pledge not to incorporate AI into his work. She expressed her concerns about AI’s impact on humanity, saying, “To quote Guillermo del Toro, who will be here at this festival, ‘AI… the way that it is completely destroying the planet… the way that it is completely colonising our minds in the way that we encounter images and sound, I’m very concerned about it.”

    The Artist’s Role

Song highlighted the essence of artistry, asserting that the core responsibility of artists is to safeguard human expression. “The number one thing that we’re here to defend as artists is humanity. We’re here not to think about what makes human life easy or convenient, but what it’s like to actually live,” she explained.

She added, “Severance is one of the best documents about the way that AI is completely taking over what is beautifully difficult about human life… What I’m actually more worried about than anything is the way that it is trying to encroach on what makes our lives very beautiful and very hard, and what makes living worth doing.”

Discussing her collaboration with a cinematographer, she remarked, “It might be easy to think that cinematography is a lot of images, but working with my cinematographer, who’s a human being, a grown man, I get to have his whole life. The images that he makes are not just things that you can pin into an algorithm and pop back. The images that I make with my cinematographer reflect his entire life’s work and existence as a human being, the difficulties, the failures, everything… so deeply and… not very respectfully AI.”

  • Adivi Sesh Explains His Decision Not to Dub ‘Dacoit’ in Hindi: Here’s Why!

Adivi Sesh Explains His Decision Not to Dub ‘Dacoit’ in Hindi: Here’s Why!

Actor Adivi Sesh has shared insights into a significant artistic choice he’s made: opting not to dub his films in Hindi, but instead, creating them originally in both languages.

    A Thoughtful Decision

Speaking about this decision, Adivi explained, “The decision started with my previous films, because when I also write, I understand the meaning of an emotion on paper and the meaning of emotion when it’s on camera. There’s a translation that happens.” He expressed concern that merely translating a word can sometimes lead to a loss of essence.

He pointed out that “some words and phrases are very native to that language”, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in scriptwriting and filmmaking. “As an actor, when you truly emote the lines on screen in that language, the audiences connect more.” Therefore, while the process is challenging, he believes it is better to shoot and write films in two languages rather than relying solely on dubbing.

    About ‘Dacoit’

For his upcoming film “Dacoit,” Sesh confirmed, “We decided not to dub and take the route of shooting it simultaneously in both languages.”

The film features a talented cast, including Mrunal Thakur, director and actor Anurag Kashyap in a powerful role, along with Prakash Raj, Sunil, Atul Kulkarni, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla.

“Dacoit” narrates the story of an angry convict determined to seek revenge on his ex-girlfriend for her betrayal. As he meticulously crafts a perilous trap for her, the narrative unfolds into an emotionally intense tale of love, betrayal, and vengeance.

The film is shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, with the story and screenplay jointly created by Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo. Currently in post-production, “Dacoit” is all set for a grand pan-India release.

Adivi Sesh has already established himself as a leading actor with notable performances in commercial and critical successes such as “Dongaata,” “Kshanam,” “Ami Thumi,” “Goodachari,” “Evaru,” “Major,” and “HIT: The Second Case.”

  • Manoj Pahwa Opens Up: Why ‘Single Papa’s’ ‘Baby’ Left Him Disappointed

Manoj Pahwa Opens Up: Why ‘Single Papa’s’ ‘Baby’ Left Him Disappointed

Acclaimed actor Manoj Pahwa, known for his effortless humour, recently shared an amusing yet slightly disappointing moment from the set of his upcoming project, “Single Papa,” where he worked with a four-month-old baby.

When asked about the experience, Manoj stated, “He disappointed me. The baby.” He reflected on his extensive history of working with children, recalling his earlier projects, “I’ve done some shootings with kids in the beginning, Just Mohabbat, Bol Baby Bol, all these were with kids.”

Manoj mentioned the typical expectations when shooting with kids: “So, working with kids, as an actor, this was the advantage. Shot is ready, shot is ready. Where did he go? Sir, he’s horse riding. He’s a kid. He went to the beach in a hurry.” He chuckled, explaining that these spontaneous breaks often provided the actors with a chance to relax.

However, this time proved to be quite different. “So, I said, it’s good. He’s a kid. He’ll cry in between. So, we’ll get some rest,” Pahwa noted. To his surprise, the little one was a total professional.

“He was so professional. He’s quiet. Wherever you want to see, you have to see. But, it felt like he learned it from his mother’s womb,” he added.

The show features Kunal Kemmu, Ayesha Raza, and Prajakta Koli alongside Manoj Pahwa. Headlined by Kunal Kemmu, “Single Papa” tells the story of Gaurav Gehlot, aka GG, a lovable man-child with an emotional age best described as “work in progress.” His unexpected decision to adopt a baby right after his divorce shocks his family, who briefly consider rebooting him. This leads to chaotic situations as the Gehlots try to comprehend how a man who still misplaces his socks plans to raise a child.

Created and co-produced by Ishita Moitra and Neeraj Udhwani, with Shashank Khaitan as the executive producer, and directed by Hitesh Kewalya and Neeraj Udhwani, the series is produced by Aditya Pittie and Samar Khan under the Juggernaut Productions banner.

“Single Papa” is set to premiere on December 12 on Netflix.
