Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar recently commemorated the 101st birth anniversary of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, a Param Vir Chakra awardee and the central figure in his latest film, 120 Bahadur, with a heartfelt tribute.
He shared a picture of Major Bhati on Instagram, honoring the valor of the war hero and the 120 soldiers who fought valiantly under his command during the Battle of Rezang La. Farhan expressed his sentiments, saying, “Remembering Maj Shaitan Singh Bhati (PVC) on his 101st birthday anniversary today. May we continue to draw inspiration from him and the 120 fearless warriors he led in the Battle of Rezang La. Once again, my deepest respects and gratitude to his son, Narpat Singh ji and to the Bhati family. Jai Hind.”
120 Bahadur is inspired by the historic Battle of Rezang La, a pivotal moment in Indian military history when 120 soldiers from Charlie Company held their ground against over 3,000 Chinese troops.
The film narrates the extraordinary tale of these 120 Indian soldiers from the 13 Kumaon Regiment, showcasing their courage during the legendary battle in 1962. Farhan portrays Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC, leading his men through this defining moment.
The Battle of Rezang La, fought on November 18, 1962, is regarded as a significant event of the Sino-Indian War. In this fierce confrontation, the entirely Ahir contingent of Charlie Company effectively defended their position, inflicting over 1,300 casualties on the Chinese Army.
Directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, and Amit Chandrra, 120 Bahadur is set to release in cinemas on November 21, 2025.
