Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha remembered the legendary Dev Anand on his 14th death anniversary.

Shatrughan shared two throwback stills from their collaborations, “Prem Pujari” and “Gambler,” on his official X handle (previously known as Twitter). He expressed that Dev Anand remains one of the most stylish heroes in the industry to this day.

“Remembering Dev Saheb with love, fondness & an attitude of gratitude. #DevAnand is one of the most stylish & evergreen heroes till date. (sic)” was the heartfelt message in his post. He also conveyed that the wisdom shared by Dev Anand continues to resonate with him.

“Your motivation & advice is very close to my heart even today. Long Live Dev Saheb! #DeathAnniversary,” he added.

About “Prem Pujari” and “Gambler”

“Prem Pujari,” directed by Dev Anand, also features Waheeda Rehman, Prem Chopra, Madan Puri, and Amrish Puri in pivotal roles. The film tells the story of Ramdev Bakshi, a peace-loving army officer who defies orders, leading to his court-martial and eventual disappearance.

Their second collaboration, “Gambler,” directed by Amarjeet, stars Dev Anand alongside Zaheeda and Shatrughan Sinha.

Dev Anand passed away in London at the age of 88 on December 3, 2011, reportedly due to a cardiac arrest.

Paying tribute to the iconic actor, Jackie Shroff also shared scenes from the 1982 drama “Swami Dada,” directed by Dev Anand. The film, which marked Jackie’s debut, features Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, Christine O’Neil, Padmini Kohlapure, and Dev Anand.

Former “Bigg Boss 19” contestants Abhishek Bajaj and Awez Darbar showcased their inner “Desi Boyz” by dancing to the popular title track “Make Some Noise for Desi Boyz” from the 2011 film.

Interestingly, the makers initially considered Deepika Padukone for the female lead. However, due to differences regarding pay and working hours, the role ultimately went to Triptii Dimri.

Triptii made her mark with her first lead role in the romantic drama Laila Majnu in 2018. She gained critical acclaim for her performances in Anvita Dutt’s films Bulbbul and Qala. Recently, she garnered popularity with a supporting role in the blockbuster action film Animal, and has also featured in the comedy films Bad Newz and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

The storyline revolves around Hari Mohan, a saintly figure who organizes Hindu prayers and discourses in a warm, inviting environment. Unbeknownst to them, Hari Mohan is actually a professional thief who, along with a young woman and a group of orphaned children, devises a plan to steal the temple’s jewelry.

Dev Anand is regarded as one of the greatest actors in Indian cinema’s history, with a career spanning over six decades and more than 100 films to his credit. He was honored with the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002. Making his debut in 1946 with Hum Ek Hain, a film about Hindu-Muslim unity, Dev’s first commercial success came with Ziddi in 1948. However, it was the 1951 crime thriller Baazi that catapulted him to fame, setting the stage for the “Bombay Noir” genre in Hindi cinema during the 1950s.

From the 1950s through the 1970s, Dev Anand consistently delivered hits, with timeless classics like Jaal, Taxi Driver, Insaniyat, C.I.D., Paying Guest, Kala Pani, Kala Bazar, Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai, Hum Dono, Asli-Naqli, Tere Ghar Ke Samne, Guide, Jewel Thief, Johny Mera Naam, and Hare Rama Hare Krishna.

In the 1970s and 1980s, films like Amir Garib, Warrant, Jaaneman, Darling Darling, Des Pardes, Swami Dada, and Lashkar kept him relevant. His most acclaimed works include Munimji, Funtoosh, Baarish, Nau Do Gyarah, Solva Saal, Teen Devian, Prem Pujari, Tere Mere Sapne, and Heera Panna. The last chapter of his illustrious career was marked by the 2011 film Chargesheet, which he also directed, signifying the end of a remarkable journey.

Actress Elnaaz Norouzi shares her thoughts on stepping into the adult-comedy genre with “Mastiii 4,” expressing some initial hesitation due to the audience’s sharp reactions to bold humour. The plot revolves around three friends—Amar, Meet, and Prem—who feel trapped in their mundane married routines and yearn for the excitement of their younger days. However, their escapade takes an unexpected turn when their wives also decide to break the rules in their own way.
