Realme GT Neo 5 could have the fastest charging system on a smartphone next year. Based on a new leak, Realme may introduce a 240W wired fast charging solution on its next GT series smartphone, the Realme GT Neo 5. The phone will be a successor to the Realme GT Neo starting this year and will boast the fastest charging solution. Most of the flagship league will use up to 200W charging.

The leak comes from well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, which confirms that the Realme GT Neo 5 will have a 240W charging solution that charges its 4600mAh battery. Realme will also have a slower 150W wired charge for a more affordable variant with a larger 5,000mAh battery. The 150W solution is currently the fastest option in the Realme GT Neo 3 series.

Realme brings a faster 240W solution

Aside from the battery capacity and charging speed, the Realme GT Neo 5 also gets a new Sony IMX890 image sensor for the main rear camera. The camera system will also use an OIS system.

What remains to be seen is the rest of the feature set for the Realme GT Neo 5. This year’s Realme GT Neo 3 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip, an OLED display with a 120W refresh rate, an in-display fingerprint sensor and above up to 150W charging solution. Note that the Realme GT 2 Pro is currently the flagship model of the company, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and a unique paper-like design.

The race to have the fastest charging solution has gained momentum in recent times. Throughout 2022, most of the Chinese brands have moved to the 120W charging solution for their mid-range and flagship models, with Realme taking the game to a 150W solution. Xiaomi was the first brand to bring a 200W charging solution to its Redmi Note 12 series devices this year. Xiaomi promises a full battery charge in less than 10 minutes, which is much faster than the 120W charging system on previous phones. iQOO will be next to bring the same to its iQOO 11 series.
