Actors Rakul Preet Singh and Sumeet Vyas-starrer slice-of-life drama “Chhatrivali” will have a direct-to-digital release on ZEE5 early next year, the streaming platform announced on Thursday.

The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar.

“Chhatriwali” aims to deliver a strong social message on the importance of male contraceptives and safe sex.

Rakul plays the quality control head in a condom factory in the film set against the backdrop of Haryana.

The logline reads, “Although initially shy and embarrassed about her job, she soon realized the importance of safe sex and then took it upon herself to de-stigmatize the conversation about sex education.”

The makers announced the digital release of the film on the occasion of World AIDS Day.

Rakul said that ‘Chhatriwali’ is special as it is an entertaining film with a thought-provoking social message.
