The Vivo X90 series will be the first smartphone series to use the 2023 flagship chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek.
The Vivo X90 series debuts in China, becoming the first smartphone series to use the new 4nm flagship chipset from Qualcomm and MediaTek. The X90 series will be launched this time with three models: a Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro with the Dimensity 9200 chip, and the Vivo X90 Pro+ uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. These phones also have new cameras and an updated design to keep things interesting.
The Vivo X90 starts at CNY 3,699 (approximately Rs. 42,000) for the base 8/128 GB variant. The Vivo X90 Pro starts at CNY 4,999 (approximately Rs. 57,000) for the basic variant with 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. The premium Vivo X90 Pro+ starts at CNY 6,499 (approx Rs. 74,000) for the base variant with 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. Vivo has not yet announced any plans to bring the phone to India.
Vivo X90 Series at a glance
Apart from the new Dimensity 9200 chip and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips, the Vivo X90 series devices offer high-end features. The X90 and X90 Pro have the same 6.78-inch Quad HD+ 120Hz Curved AMOLED displays with a peak brightness of up to 1300 nits. The cameras are where things see big changes. The Vivo X90 gets the 50 MP Sony IMX866 sensor for the main camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide Sony IMX663 camera and a 12 MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom.

The Vivo X90 Pro uses the new 1-inch Sony IMX989 main camera sensor, a new 12MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP portrait camera with 2x optical zoom. The Vivo V2 ISP chip is used in these two handsets. Both phones have sub-5000mAh batteries and they rely on 120W wired charging.
The Vivo X90 Pro+ offers some other higher quality features than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The screen is similar at 6.7-inches, but it can go up to 1800 nits of peak brightness. The main camera uses a 50 MP Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor, another 50 MP sensor for 2x zoom, a 64 MP 3.5x optical zoom camera and a 48 MP ultra-wide camera. There is a 32MP selfie camera.
The phone also features UFS 4.0 storage that promises faster app loading speeds. The phone is also IP68 water and dust resistant. The Vivo X90 Pro+ also features a 4700mAh battery with support for slower 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
