When Sunny Deol Directed And Acted With Brother Bobby For The First Time In Dillagi

It’s a special day for the Deol brothers. Twenty-three years ago today, Sunny and Bobby Deol’s first film together – Dillagi – hit the theatres. It was directed by Sunny Deol and featured siblings along with Urmila Matondkar. Reminiscing the memorable moments from the film on Saturday, Sunny Deol shared a montage consisting of shots from the 1999 emotional drama. He wrote, ‘Dillagi will always be close to my heart. Got a chance to direct and act with Bob (Bobby Deol) for the first time. Had a lot of fun while shooting. Much love to all involved. 23 years of Dillagi.” The film depicts the story of two brothers, Rajveer and Ranveer (played by Bobby and Sunny Deol), who fall in love with the same woman, Shalini (Urmila).
For those who don’t know, Dillagi also marked the directorial debut of Sunny Deol. Artists like Dara Singh, Zohra Sehgal and Preity Zinta have also worked in this film.

Urmila Matondkar also celebrated 23 years of Dillagi with a throwback post. He re-shared a collage containing stills from the film. She is a sight to behold in the white traditional attire.
After Dillagi, Sunny Deol directed Ghayal Once Again, which released in 2016, and Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, a 2019 film that marked the acting debut of his son Karan.
The Deol brothers have worked together in films such as Apne (2007), Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011), Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (2013), Poster Boys (2017) and Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se (2018). These films also featured her father, veteran actor Dharmendra.
On the work front, Sunny Deol was last seen in R Balki’s crime-thriller Chup: Revenge of the Artist. He recently announced a film starring Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt.
