The ministry had issued a notification saying, “Written complaints were received that the film contains highly objectionable content which is not in consonance with the values and standards of our society.”

Journalist Rafe Mehmood, writing for the Express Tribune on Wednesday, tweeted, “After full board review by the Censor Board, #Joyland has been allowed to release across Pakistan with minor cuts. Distributors expect release on Nov 18.” Doing as initially planned.
