Karan Johar On Body Shaming: Many of us suffer from insecurity about our body and celebrities are also included in this list. Filmmaker Karan Johar is one of them, and he has repeatedly addressed the issue of body shaming in interviews. In a recent conversation with his friend, author and former actress Twinkle Khanna, Karan opened up about his experiences with body shaming and how far he has come in his journey.
I am still in the trauma of body shaming
Karan shared that although it has been years since he was first teased for being fat, he is yet to get over it. He said, “I haven’t accepted it yet, so I have a big problem with fitted clothes because even if there is a small role, my mind will immediately go to that. When I come in front of the room, I am still in my clothes.” I look around. Now I’ve made it into a thing where I wear these bigger sizes, but I really can’t tolerate any fitted thing, a T-shirt, shirt just absolutely bothers me. I Can’t believe I have the waist or body for this.”
That’s where fashion and bling came in, to make me feel good about myself, she said. Even when I’m changing my T-shirt, I’m worried like who’s watching. More than the weight, the word pansy bothered me, it was not my identity and it had become that.”
Karan Johar often shares pictures of himself on social media wearing blingy and dramatic outfits, and has confessed his love for clothes and fashion on several occasions. On the work front, the filmmaker is awaiting the release of his upcoming family entertainer Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in lead roles. The film will be released next April.
