Actor Aryaman Seth, who plays a young Kashmiri affected by the socio-political changes around him in the recently released streaming show ‘Tanav’, shared that he didn’t eat anything for two straight days to lend authenticity to a particular scene . the show where his character was put without food.
‘Tension’ is a remake of the hit Israeli show ‘Fauda’, and bases its physical setting in Kashmir.
Sharing an anecdote, the actor, who “didn’t even know how to shoot a gun”, says, “The physical aspects of performance could be learnt, but what was important was getting into the psyche of the character. I had an important scene where I was captured and brutally tortured. It was a major scene where they put a bomb in my stomach and that sequence required a special mood. This man was kept without food, So I didn’t eat for two days as a preparation.”
Describing another incident that shows his emotional attachment to the character and how invested he was in making sure he does it right, he shares, “There was one scene in which I was The tea was spilled. Now, on set, they apparently use lukewarm tea, so the reaction was not the kind I wanted to give for the moment. I insisted that the tea be heated so that the pain and shuddering response would feel more natural. I wanted the tea to be hot and Sudhir sir was not convinced.
“He showed his concern but then he bowed down. He let me heat the tea to my satisfaction and then the hot tea splashed on my face. The shot came out perfectly, I didn’t so much (laughs). But now When I see the scenes in the show, I feel I am happy with my decision. I am very thankful to Sudhir sir for allowing me to do such antics. His ability to give me a fair playing field has helped me to do that kind of thing. Gave me the confidence to create the character as I wanted.
