i-Dismissal! iPhone 15 Pro may not get 8P lens, says Ming-Chi Kuo
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, iPhone 15 Pro may not get an 8P lens camera update.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 15 series in September 2023. While there is still a long way to go, reports and leaks are already starting to inform us about the expected specs of the phone. According to the latest details, iPhone 15 Pro is not expected to offer the 8P camera lens to users. Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, inquired about the same by: tweet“I think using an 8P lens in the iPhone 15 Pro series probably won’t work out.”
8P is known to refer to eight plastic lenses and is a reference to the number of elements available in the lens. There were also earlier reports that the iPhone 15 Pro models could get this camera update.
Apple analyst Kuo has briefed on various details and specs that the iPhone 15 series may get or ditch.
Earlier, the analyst had revealed that the volume rocker and power button of two high-end iPhone 15 models could adopt a solid-state button design similar to the home button design of iPhone 7/8/SE2 and 3. He tweeted: “My latest survey indicates that the volume rocker and power button of two high-end iPhone 15/2H23 new iPhone models can adopt a solid-state button design (similar to the iPhone 7/8 home button design). /SE2 & 3) to the physical/mechanical button design.”
He went on to say in a series of tweets that there will be Taptic Engines on the left and right sides that will provide forced feedback to make users feel like they are pressing physical buttons. He went on to say that as a result of this design change, the number of Taptic Engines used in each iPhone will increase from the current one to three.
Analyst Kuo also said that Apple is expected to make a huge distinction between iPhone 15 Pros and iPhone 15 standard models. “I believe Apple will make more distinction between iPhone 15 Pros and iPhone 15 standard models to increase the allocation of Pro shipments and the new iPhone ASP (average retail price),” his tweet read. Kuo said Apple can differentiate between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro models to generate more sales and profits in a mature market.
Apple is also expected to kill the Pro Max model with the launch of the iPhone 15 series. Apple launched the iPhone 14 series including the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple is expected to create a huge gap between its Pro and Pro MAX models with iPhone 15, starting with a rebrand of the Pro Max as the iPhone 15 Ultra.
The iPhone 15 lineup is expected to feature a unified design that takes advantage of the Dynamic Island. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also said in his Power On newsletter that he doesn’t expect Touch ID to return in the near future with the iPhone 15 or other flagship models.
