Comedian and actor Shailesh Lodha is one of the most popular stars of the television industry. He is best known for playing the role of Taarak Mehta in the hit sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He recently came into limelight when in an old clip he was seen criticizing The Kapil Sharma Show.

In the viral clip, Shailesh is heard saying that he is ashamed of watching some shows that contain vulgarity and then describing the content which resembles characters and gags from Kapil Sharma’s show. Now the actor has defended his statement and claimed that he did not target the comedy show.

During a conversation with Sidharth Kannan, Shailesh Lodha opened up about the viral video in which he was seen criticizing some of the show and the vulgarity in it. “This story is different. I never said that. All I said was that there are shows on TV that are obscene where a grandma kisses people. It was about that stuff. There are many shows like that. Me. Thought there was a better way to do comedy. It was never about any show. People associated it with something else. Kapil and I have performed together on stage.”

The Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor then said that he was criticizing the genre of ‘vulgar’ comedy shows on TV and not The Kapil Sharma Show. “There was nothing like that. I was talking about obscenity in TV shows which have started coming out now. I was talking about it. I wasn’t talking about anyone personally. May that Never does. Kapil is a very good artist and friend. It was not about him at all,” Lodha said.

In the viral clip, which appears to have been recorded from a Kavi Sammelan, Shailesh Lodha can be heard saying, “I feel ashamed when I watch some programmes. A grandmother who wants to choose every man, an aunt who is a son for marriage, a husband who regularizes his wife. I used to work in that program because a son is a small pair of his father for everything.
