Manoj Bajpayee Recalls He “Was On The Verge Of Losing Mental Stability” During Gali Guleiyan Prep

For National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee, one of his “most challenging and rewarding roles” came in the form of Gali Guleiyan. After premiering at several national and international film festivals, the film released on Prime Video on Friday. Sharing the details of his film’s release, Manoj Bajpayee revealed that he was “on the verge of losing (his) mental stability while preparing” for his role. He acts as a man who is lost in his own thoughts and trapped in the walls and streets of Old Delhi. The role was Manoj Bajpayee’s “Everest as an Actor”. In a longer note, the actor elaborated on his experience filming Gali Guleiyan and shared why the film will always be special to him.
Manoj Bajpayee wrote, “Out now. While preparing for this role, I was on the verge of losing my mental stability, so much so that I had to stop shooting. Gali Guleiyan, one of the most challenging and rewarding roles ever, is finally out on Prime Video.”
According to news agency PTI, the 2017 psychological drama, titled In the Shadow in English, premiered at several film festivals including the 22nd Busan International Film Festival, MAMI Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival and Cleveland International Film Festival. It was also screened at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and the Atlanta Film Festival. It is written, directed and produced by Dipesh Jain. The actor shared how “thrilled” he is, now that viewers from his own country will be able to stream Gali Guleiyan. Manoj Bajpayee wrote, “The film has traveled the world through national and international film festivals and won several awards. Although I wanted the film to be available to audiences in my country, doing it has been a battle, and it has finally come to fruition. I can’t tell you how thrilled and excited I am to share this with all of you, and I hope you enjoy the film too.
Manoj Bajpayee also sang a note for the Gali Guleiyan director to “lead the project”. He wrote, “Deepesh Jain, the writer, director and producer of the film, has done an outstanding role in leading the project. Congratulations to the cast and crew of the film; They have been exceptional in delivering this masterpiece.”

Manoj Bajpayee in his previous post teased his fans about a “surprise” associated with Gali Guleiyan. He shared BTS pictures of himself from the sets of the film. “On the sets of pictures taken by the team during the shoot of Gali Guleiyan. Seeing these pictures breaks my spine. My role as an actor was of Everest. I will soon share more about what happened on the sets and tomorrow you may have a surprise,” wrote the actor.
Manoj Bajpayee announced the OTT release of Gali Guleiyan on Diwali. Sharing the poster of the film, he wrote, ‘I couldn’t think of a better day than today that our film Gali Guleiyan is releasing on an OTT, coming soon on Amazon Prime. One of the most challenging roles I have played till date. Congratulations to Dipesh Jain for creating this masterpiece.”
Gali Guleiyan also stars Neeraj Kabi, Ranvir Shorey and Shahana Goswami.
