Actor Bharti Jaffrey, daughter of cinema icon Ashok Kumar, has passed away, her son-in-law and actor Kanwaljit Singh confirmed. Singh, who is married to Jafri’s actor-daughter Anuradha Patel, said in a social media post that the veteran passed away on Tuesday.
Sharing pictures with Jaffrey on Instagram, Kanwaljit Singh wrote, “Our lovely Bharti Jaffrey, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, neighbour, friend and Prerna passed away today on 20th Sept (sic).”
The cause and age of his death could not be immediately confirmed.
Bharati Jaffrey’s film credits include the 2001 Kalpana Lajmi-directed film. Daman: Victim of marital violenceStarring Raveena Tandon, and popular TV show of the 1990s BreathIn which he acted with Neena Gupta and son-in-law Kanwaljit Singh.
Singh said in his post that Jafri’s last rites were performed at the Cherai crematorium in Mumbai’s Chembur camp.
