During the pre-launch period of the iPhone 14 series, most analysts strongly hinted that the new upcoming giant offering will be called iPhone 14 Max instead of the mini iPhone. But later it turned out to be the iPhone 14 Plus. Now it looks like Apple is changing the nomenclature we’ve been seeing on a different model for years. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, next year’s Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max may be called iPhone 15 Ultra. This could be a strategy to differentiate the top model of the lineup from all the others. Currently, there is not much difference between the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max apart from the large size.
“I believe Apple will make more distinction between iPhone 15 Pros and iPhone 15 standard models to increase the allocation of Pro shipments and the new iPhone ASP,” tweeted Apple analyst Mark Gurman. This year, before the launch of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Max, it was clear that there could be a huge difference between the standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models. And that’s what happened. The iPhone 14 had more or less iPhone 13 features and even kept the same look, while the iPhone 14 Pro variants are like a game changer for Apple.
Now, just days after the launch of the iPhone 14, it is expected that there will be more differences between the Pro and non-Pro models of the next iPhone 15 series. “Going one step further, Apple will also differentiate between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro. It is the best method to generate more sales/profits in a mature market through an accurate product segmentation strategy,” Gurman said.

The same has been touted by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that the standard iPhone 15 and Pro models will have more differentiation to increase the average retail price and shipping allocation. This emphasized the iPhone 15 Ultra again.
