Welspun To Sell Six Road Project To Actis HIghway Infra For Rs 6,000 Crore

Infrastructure firm Welspun Enterprises on Thursday said it has entered into definitive agreements with Actis Highway Infra to sell its portfolio of operating highway projects for a total enterprise value (EV) of around Rs 6,000 crore.

Following this proposed exit, Welspun Enterprises said in a BSE filing, the company’s road asset portfolio will include two under-construction Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) road projects (Sattanathapuram-Nagapattinam and Anti-Simaria road projects) with a total project cost of Rs 3,900. crore Rs.

The company said that its highway portfolio consists of five completed HAM properties (Welspun Delhi Meerut Expressway Pvt Ltd, Welspun Road Infra Pvt Ltd, MBL (CGRG) Road Ltd, MBL (GSY) Road Ltd, Chikhli Tarsod Highway Pvt Ltd) and one operating BOT – Are included. Toll Asset (Welspun Infrafacility Pvt Ltd).

Welspun Group Chairman BK Goenka said, “This is a historic moment for the company… Similarly, we will explore exit from under construction road properties and oil and gas assets at the right time and at the right price.”

Under the HAM model, the government provides 40 per cent of the project cost to the developer to start the work, while the rest is to be invested by the developer.

Completion of the above transaction is subject to completion of customary and regulatory compliances and approvals from NHAI, PWD and Lenders.
