Sensex Falls Over 350 Points On Weak Global Cues, Nifty Trades Below 16,250

Today Sensex and Nifty started with a fall.

New Delhi:

Indian equity benchmarks were trading lower in opening deals on Thursday amid weak global cues. Asian stocks fell as investors worried about the outlook for further rate hikes ahead of a major policy meeting of the European Central Bank, tracking an overnight decline in Wall Street.

Trends in Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange (SGX Nifty) indicated a gaping opening for the domestic indices.

The 30-share BSE Sensex slipped 373 points or 0.68 per cent to end at 54,520, while the broader NSE Nifty was trading 110 points or 0.67 per cent lower at 16,247.

Mid- and small-cap stocks were weak as Nifty Midcap 100 declined 0.25 per cent and small-cap by 0.13 per cent.
