Unified Licence To Have Framework For Audio Conferencing, Voice Mail Services
Integrated licensing system will include licensing framework for audio conferencing, audiotex and voice mail

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on Thursday said the unified licensing system would include the licensing framework for audio conferencing, audiotex and voice mail services.
As of now, standalone licenses for services like audiotex and voice mail services are being issued by the DoT as per the extant norms.
After examining the recommendations of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on “Licensing Framework for Audio Conferencing, Audiotex, Voice Mail Services”, DoT has decided to make this license a part of Integrated License by adding a new chapter to this Authority. has been taken,” a statement issued by the ministry said.
That said, the transfer from an existing license to a unified license will be optional for existing licensees holding the Voicemail service and Audiotex licenses.
“No fresh standalone license or renewal thereof shall be issued for voice mail service and Audiotex licenses against the guidelines of DoT issued on July 16, 2001,” the statement said.
The new framework will be effective from January 1, 2022.
Citing the salient features of the changes as per the revised policy, the statement said that the license fee of new licensees and existing licensees will be eight per cent of the AGR (Adjusted Gross Revenue), which is at par with other licensees of the unified license.
