Sonam Kapoor came into limelight when she responded to the comments of BJP MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar.
Sudhir Mungantiwar made comments against the LGBTQ community. Which made him welcome criticism and also attracted the attention of Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor. The actress expressed concern about Sudhir Mungantiwar’s ignorant comments. BJP’s MLA spoke about the Maharashtra Public University Act, 2016 (Third Amendment) Bill which aimed to keep LGBTQIA|+ community members on university boards.
Mungantiwar strongly opposed the inclusion of the LGBTQIA community and equal opportunities. While doing so, he asked if an organization is going to hire lesbians and gays as members? He also asked that no joint medical council should be set up about this. He also said it mentions bisexual and asexual relationships. In the end, Sudhir said no one has defined it yet.
Sudhir Mungantiwar did not stop here. He added that no one has defined asexual relationships. He further confirmed that if a person has asexual connections with an animal, the animal will come and testify that there was an asexual relationship. He also said he was not aware of what was going on.

After knowing all this, Sonam Kapoor took to her social media account to cover the MLA. Sonam Kapoor took over her Instagram story and wrote it ignorant, illiterate and hateful. She also added that she should tell him who will be on the board of directors. The actress also shared a video of Sudhir Mungantiwar speaking out against the LGBTQ community.
