ARIIA 2021: IIT Roorkee Secures Fifth Rank
New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has been ranked fifth in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) by the Ministry of Education, an improvement of four places from its previous year’s rank. Minister of State for Education Subhash Sarkar declared the results on Wednesday. 1,438 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) including all IITs, NITs and IIScs participated in the third edition of ARIIA Rankings as compared to 674 HEIs during the previous year. The government congratulated the top performers in various ARIIA ranking categories, emphasizing that institutions should focus on innovations and quality of research to achieve a truly ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. Rajat Agarwal, Associate Dean of Innovation and Incubation, IIT Roorkee said: “This improvement shows that IIT Roorkee is moving in the right direction to make the institute an innovation savvy campus. 18 Startups were established during the evaluation period. “There was also a 100 per cent increase in IP filing by start-ups in the incubation facility of the institute. These improvements in various aspects of innovation and entrepreneurship helped IIT Roorkee improve by four positions in this year’s rankings,” he said.
ARIIA attempts to systematically rank education institutions and universities primarily on indicators related to innovation.
