Veteran actress Farooq Zafar, best known for playing Begum in Shoojit Sircar’s 2020 film Gulabo SitaboNews agency ANI reported that he died in Lucknow on Friday at the age of 88. Actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who shared screen space with him Gulabo Sitabo, paid tribute to him by sharing the film’s dialogues and a picture from it and he wrote: “begum singing. Rest in Peace Farrukh Jafri YesJuhi Chaturvedi, Screenwriter Gulabo Sitabo, also remembered the late actresses and wrote in an Instagram post: “begum singing. Farooq ji… there was no one like you and there will be no one.…tear out.”

Before joining films, Farooq Jaffer was a former radio presenter. He started his career with Vividh Bharati in 1963 and ventured into films in 1981 with a supporting role. Farooq Zafar started his acting career with a Bollywood film. Umrao JaniIn which she played the role of veteran actress Rekha’s mother.
