The UPSC has said that it will be mandatory for all the candidates appearing for the Civil Services Preliminary Examination on Sunday to wear a mask or face cover, follow the COVID norms on social distancing and maintain personal hygiene inside the examination hall and premises. “Wearing of mask/face cover is mandatory for all the candidates. The guidelines issued by the commission are as follows:

  • Wearing a mask or face cover will be mandatory. Candidates without mask/face cover will not be allowed to enter the venue.
  • However, candidates will have to remove their masks for verification whenever required by the examination authorities, it said in a series of instructions to the candidates.
  • Candidate can carry his/her own hand sanitizer (small size) in a transparent bottle
  • The candidates will have to adhere to the COVID-19 norms of ‘social distancing’ as well as ‘personal hygiene’ in the examination hall/rooms as well as in the premises of the venue.
  • The faculty members, who impart training to crack the Civil Services Examination, advised the candidates to rely on their preparation rather than panic at the last minute.

Kapil Sikka, Faculty of StudyIQ.com (an online platform for providing training for Civil Services Exam) asked the candidates to focus on their strengths.

“Be it quantitative ability or reading comprehension, candidates should try to be as accurate as possible in it. Maintain the right balance between speed and accuracy. A wrong answer is of no value if done in a quick way to save time. Also a correct answer is useless if it takes too long to solve,” Sikka said.

The UPSC in its instructions for the examination on Sunday also said that the candidates should not have any mobile phone (even in switched-off mode), pager or any electronic device, programmable device, storage media such as pen drive. , should not be used or used. Smart watches, etc., cameras or bluetooth devices or any other equipment or related accessories capable of being used as communication devices during the examination in either working or switched-off mode.

“Any violation of these instructions will result in disciplinary action including ban from future examinations,” it said. The Commission stated that the use of a normal or ordinary wrist watch by the candidates is permitted inside the examination halls/ halls.

“However, the use of watches fitted with any special accessory which can be used as communication device or smartwatch is strictly prohibited and candidates are not allowed to carry such watches to the examination halls/ halls,” it said. said.
