Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Throwback: Dilip Joshi almost turned down the show (Photo Credits – IMDb/Episode Still)

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one such show which will be remembered in history forever. It has been enjoying a successful run for the past 13 years and counting! From Munmun Dutta to Ghanshyam Nayak to Tanmay Vekaria, the show has brought immense fame to each and every character. But do you know that Dilip Joshi was about to reject the show. Read on for details.

As everyone knows, Dileep has got a lot of love for his character Jethalal. All his equations in the show – starting from wife Disha Vakani (Dayaben), son Raj Anadkat (Taput) to affection for Munmun Dutta (Babita) have been the major attraction! Can you imagine someone else drawing all this?

Dilip Joshi once revealed that he had a dilemma about doing Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. It was because he was already doing another show called Main Aisi Kyun Hoon. The show started in 2007 and the actors were really committed to it. So, he was thinking of rejecting TMKOC and sticking to his already signed show.

So how did Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah happen? Luckily (for us), Main Aisi Kyun Hoon went off-air within a year and Dilip Joshi was free to sign Asit Kumar Modi’s show.

Meanwhile, the demise of Ghanshyam Nayak aka Nattu Kaka has dealt a big blow to the fans of TMKOC. The veteran star was 77 years old and passed away due to cancer.

He died last Sunday and was cremated on Monday morning (October 4). Several artists including Munmun Dutta, Samay Shah, Tanmay Vekaria, Dilip Joshi visited the funeral grounds to perform the last rites.

Ghanshyam Nayak was really struggling in his last days. He could neither swallow nor eat. We hope he is at peace wherever he is!
