After Money Heist, South Korean survival drama television series Squid Game is the latest fury among audiences. The Korean drama is about rich and bored individuals who take advantage of money by pitting people desperate for money against each other in a deadly series of games. They will get paid heavily in the end.
This is the plot of Netflix’s latest series. sounds familiar? Bollywood also came up with a film with a similar story in 2009. The film also had a stellar star cast but failed to make a mark at the box office. However, now a user has pointed towards the film. Scroll down to know.

The 2009 film Luck, directed by Sohum Shah, stars Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan, Shruti Haasan and Mithun Chakraborty. There is a pretty similar storyline for the characters in the film as well.
To recall, Major Lucky was in dire need of money for the operation of his wife Sheela. Seong Gi-hyun is also in dire need of money for his mother’s operation in Netflix’s Squid Game. While both had similar plot lines, the one that revolves around the rich and the poor seeing the extent to which they will go for the right price. But only one of them was well written and had a better budget.

Recently, Squid Game director Hwang Dong-hyuk talked about the reason for Korean content becoming globally popular. Speaking to IANS, he said, “I would say that Korean society is very dynamic. It is the only country divided in the world. People of the same origin are divided because of military tensions and many people are living in small sized lands. Huh.”
“We have a lot of hyper-connectivity with high-speed internet so a lot of influence is being given and received among all the population living in this country. We are greatly influenced by other factors around us, that is This is probably the reason why Korean content is highly preferred. The content is responding to external conditions and it is also rapidly adapting to a lot of changes and it is sensitive to changes that may perhaps allow Korean content to reach a global audience. It is supposed to be entertaining,” he said.
