Camera features of Google Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro revealed
XDA Developers managed to unearth the leaked internal build of the Google Camera app and Pixel 6 Duo camera features from an unnamed source. Reportedly, here’s what the Pixel 6 series can pack- Also read- Google Pixel 6 series could launch a day before Apple unveils iPhone 13 series
Wide-angle front camera- As per the code points, the Pro version is likely to feature an ultra-wide-angle camera. According to XDA, their source “confirms that the selfie camera on the Pixel 6 Pro offers two predefined zoom levels: 0.7X and 1.0X.” Also read- Before Pixel 6 launch, Google discontinued its two popular Pixel phones
Video Recording- According to the report, the primary camera will support 4K video @ 60fps and the maximum zoom level will be 7X. Enable zoom up to 20X when recording at 4K or FHD @ 60fps. Still shots will have similar support.
Baby Mode- This mode is supposed to be an auto-capture feature that will recognize and capture the moments kids play while they are playing.
“Nima Aesthetic” – This is another new feature that is said to be enabled on the Pixel 6 series. This feature appears to be related to Google’s “Top Shot” feature when Motion Photos is enabled and appears to be accelerated by the TPU in the Google Tensor chip.
Motion Blur – As per the report, this new feature will allow you to add a “creative blur effect to your photos”.
Magic Eraser – According to the code, the Magic Eraser feature can also be hardware-accelerated by the TPU of the Tensor chip. This feature is projected to allow easy removal of objects or people from an image.
Face Dibbler – Face Dibbler has already been confirmed by Google. The Verge previously explained how it works – multiple snaps taken from the main sensor and combining them into a single HDR image. While the functionality is similar to what we’ve seen in previous Pixel devices, this time the ultra-wide-angle camera on the new Pixel will take sharp images quickly, according to XDA. The TPU will then process the details on both cameras to create a blur of a face that can be captured in motion.
Other features mentioned by XDA Developers include manual white balance, portrait spotlight, scene lock, and Bluetooth microphone support. While these features are sure to bring some excitement to those camera enthusiasts and Pixel fans, the report suggests that all these features may or may not make it to the final hardware of the Pixel 6 series. The Google Pixel flagship lineup is expected to debut on October 19.
