Maharashtra Academic Year in Colleges to Begin From November 1, Decision on Physical Classes Later: Minister Uday Samant

New Delhi: State Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant on Monday said that classroom teaching in Maharashtra colleges cannot start from November 1, even as the academic year is about to begin. “I have said that the academic year will start from November 1. I have not said that physical classes will start from that day. Right now, taking that risk (of starting offline classes) is a big challenge,” the minister said. “We have to consider the fact that not all eligible beneficiaries have been given the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while only 17-18 per cent have received the second dose. If all the students had got both the doses, we could have thought of starting physical classes,” said Samant. Also Read – Mumbai Rape Case: Accused Confesses Crime, Says CP Nagrale; arms recovered

He also said that the state government will file an FIR against the firms if they discriminate between students who have passed out and other jobs offered during the COVID-19 pandemic. “It is not their (students) fault that they did not have practicals (due to the pandemic). If any industry refuses to employ such students then an FIR will be lodged. Also read- Another shocker from Maharashtra: Man raped after attacking minor girl with hammer, arrested
