In a conversation with IANS, Ankita Lokhande said: “I think our idea of ​​releasing the new season of ‘Pavitra Rishta’ is in a way to bring or expand the television audience on the OTT platform. The independent audience has grown and so will the audience who will watch both TV and OTT.

“But there still exists a generation gap and content gap between television and OTT shows. The generation of our parents and grandparents, in small towns, is still interested in watching family dramas on television, while OTT has introduced a lot of exciting shows in genres like thrillers, murder mystery and action dramas aimed at There is mainly a young audience,” said Ankita.

The show ‘Pavitra Rishta’ first aired in 2009. As the lead cast, it had the late Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande. The new season will release on ZEE5 on 15th September starring Ankita and Shaheer Sheikh.

“A show like Pavitra Rishta, which is a love story that revolves around the involvement of Manav-Archana and their families, is a perfect choice for both the generations. I also feel that there are not many shows on the OTT platform that are a love-story as well as a family drama. Hence, I feel that our show releasing on OTT will bring my old fans to a new platform as well as the already existing audience in a new exciting series. Both sections of the audience will coexist in the near future,” believes Ankita Lokhande.

The co-existence of parallel audiences is a factor that even Ravi Dubey recognizes. ‘Jamai Raja’ was a success on TV when it first aired in 2014. The second season of the show ‘Jamai 2.0’ was released on ZEE5 in 2019 and achieved the same success. The sequel to the second season, ‘Jamai 2.0 Season 2’, began streaming in 2021.

“I think there is a sufficient number of viewers for both television and OTT and we also have the numbers to support it. So, I don’t think TV series is losing its audience to OTT platforms anyway, but yes, with time, OTT audience is increasing,” said Ravi Dubey

“When we get the TV ratings every Thursday and if we compare them with the ratings that came before the OTT boom, we see that there are shows which are doing as good or as bad as they were before there was OTT. Yes, with great stories and great production qualities, the OTT platform has set a benchmark, but that doesn’t mean the TV show has lost its glory,” Ravi told IANS.

Ravi said: “Whether it is regional language shows, national or international shows, TV shows are in trend on a daily basis and that is why TV series are still made. TV is also doing quite well. If it hasn’t grown in the last 5 years, like the OTT space did, it hasn’t gone down either. TV is here to stay, so is OTT. I think there will be integration of television and OTT audience. The success of ‘Jamai Raja’ and ‘Jamai 2.0’ and its latest season is a result of that.”
