Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene said in a statement, “I am very grateful to everyone at PUBG and Crafton for giving me the opportunity and for the opportunities they have given me over the past four years.” “Today, I am excited to take the next step on my journey with the kind of experience I have envisioned for years. To recall, in 2019 Brendan Green stepped away from the active development of PUBG. He moved to the ‘Special Projects’ division, which was to explore the possibilities of “interactions and connections within the game space”.
Separately, Crafton recently changed the name of the game to PUBG: Battlegrounds, which may have been due to Greene leaving, as the original player was unknown. To take a look at Green’s history, he created a battle royale mod for Arma 2, then developed an official H1Z1 battle royale mode as a consultant, and then finally released PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
